Gender standards - information campaign for young women in Bulgaria

Since December 2001 the Youth programme of the Bulgarian Gender Research Foundation has started its six months project which main goal is to inform and raise the awareness of the young people on gender issues and human rights protection.

Main activity - Publication of “A guide for gender equality for young people in Europe”.
The manual was translated in Bulgarian, adapted and divided into eight chapters:

• Young women and education;
• Changing gender relationships;
• Young women and the media;
• Violence against women;
• Young women and employment;
• Young women in politics;
• Young women and health;
•  Equality of women and men in the European legislation.

The guide was presented at a workshop, where representatives of NGOs, State authorities and agencies, youth wings of political parties, other youth organizations, university professors, teachers and students were present. Before the workshop a press conference was held and the journalists demonstrated a high involvement in the topic.
