In 2008 the Bulgarian Gender Research Foundation is implementing the project "Empowering Bulgarian women through counselling and litigation on employment discrimination cases".

The project activities include:

• providing legal aid in the format of legal counseling, legal representation and impact litigation in cases of employment discrimination in Sofia, Plovdiv and Haskovo, with focus on specific violations of women’ s rights, for those who cannot afford such legal assistance
• on-going education of lawyers in the three locations on the issues of employment discrimination
• ensuring media dissemination of the project results
• issuing guidelines and methodology for counseling and litigation on employment discrimination cases in Bulgaria, with focus on women victims of such discrimination.

The project is supported by the German Women’ s Fund “ Filia”.
For the implementation of the project the BGRF relies on a team of lawyers with commitment, skills and expertise on the issues of gender equality in Sofia, Plovdiv and Haskovo.
Interested lawyers from the three locations can contact the Foundation for further training and future work on specific cases.
