Civil monitoring and statistics as an instrument for change for court cases involving domestic violence

Project partners:

Aims of the project:
- To set-up the basis of a new method for gathering statistical data for cases involving domestic violence;
- Raising the awareness on violence against women of the society and especially of the representatives of the judiciary.
Duration of the project: October 2002 – October 2003
Expected results:
- Strengthening the confidence of citizens in court system, as one of the most efficient institution in the combat against domestic violence;
- Identifying the problems within the legal system, concerning the cases of domestic violence and enhancing the effectiveness of the courts;
- Setting-up of a special data base, created on the basis of information gathered through statistical cards;
- Lobbying for legislative changes through monitoring of concrete cases of domestic violence.
